Saba’s annual user conference was well attended and throughout the event held October 19-22, 2009 in San Francisco, there were more than 80 conference breakout sessions and 20 hands-on training sessions for customers and partners to attend. Many of the breakout sessions were led by Saba customers, and provided both the theory and practice of people management and collaboration.
After an energizing opening act with lion dancers from Chinatown Magic, Saba officially kicked off the main event on October 20 with opening keynotes from Bobby Yazdani, Saba’s Chairman and CEO, and Amar Dhaliwal, Saba’s SVP, Product Operations Group, that spoke to the theme, “Business Next: People-Driven Strategies for Success”.
Additional keynote speakers at Saba Global Summit included the following thought leaders:
- Annmarie Neal, Vice President of Center for Collaborative Leadership, Cisco Systems
- Michelle Marquard, Director, Learning and Development Solutions Group, Cisco Systems
- Sundar Nagarathnam, Vice President of NetApp University, NetApp
- Josh Bersin, President, Bersin & Associates
- Jeffrey Pfeffer, Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University
- Jason Averbook, CEO, Knowledge Infusion
The conference also included the annual Saba Excellence Awards, which acknowledged the significant achievements from Brinker International, NetApp, Cisco Systems, Swedish Social Security Agency, the University of Tennessee, and the HOPE project at Harvard.
Customers and partners also enjoyed some terrific networking events, including industry birds-of-a-feather luncheons, a Customer Appreciation Event at the California Academy of Sciences and the After-Hours Party with Sabatage, Saba’s own house band, which brought the house down with a fantastic music set in the Crown Room atop the historic Fairmont hotel.
