Saba Global Summit Hands-on Training Sessions

Nine One-Hour Tuesday – Wednesday Sessions

We’re back with 9 short courses over three days, including six brand-new sessions by Saba University. We are repeating several other very popular sessions with updated content for the most recent releases of Saba and Saba Centra products. These training sessions cover a wide variety of topics and are available to all People 2010 attendees at no extra charge. Space is limited in each session and seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Using Saba Centra Recording Studio to Create Self-Paced Content Saba Centra Recording Studio This session is intended for anyone who is interested in creating self-paced content or editing recordings of virtual classroom events. Topics will include demonstration of new features in the Saba Centra Recording Studio, such as:
  • Creating self-paced content
  • Editing content in existing recordings
  • Combining content across events
Success With Success Plans Learning, Performance Success Plans Saba version 5.4 includes a powerful enhancement, “Success Plans.” It provides end-users, managers, and administrators with a robust tool to consolidate and manage an employee’s learning, performance, compliance, and development activities.
Topics include:

  • Creating Success Plan types and forms
  • Implementing Success Plans
From Performance Plans to Performance Reviews Performance Plans, Reviews How do you merge performance plans into your performance review cycle? This session with show you how. (A prerequisite for this class is knowledge of how to create Success Plans. You can learn this in the “Success With Success Plans” session.)

Using the Saba Mashup Portlet Foundation / Collaboration   The Saba 5.5 mashup portlet enables better communication with your Saba users. This session focuses on:
  • Configuring the mashup portlet
  • Embedding content in the mashup portlet
  • How to use the Mashup Portlet for effective company communication
Ad Hoc Reporting in Saba Foundation Reports Saba 5.4 SP4 ads ad hoc reporting capabilities. This session will walk you through how to utilize them.

Workforce Planning in Saba Talent Talent Succession Pools Saba Workforce Planning enables organizations to model their future based on unique people profiles and position requirements. Topics include:

Eight Two-Hour Thursday Sessions

Saba University will offer eight expanded sessions of popular topics, including five all-new sessions for 2010! These are popular training sessions that cover a wide variety of topics and are available to all People 2010 attendees at no extra charge. Space is limited in each session and participants are requested to bring their own laptops for the Thursday training sessions.

Implementing Competency Models Using Saba Foundation Competencies This session provides participants with a quick overview of how to effectively incorporate their competency model in Saba. The class focuses on identifying the best approach for managing the competency library and proficiency scale that is used by Saba Learning and Saba Performance. Topics include:
  • Setting up competencies and the competency framework in Saba
  • Competencies with Jobs and Roles
  • Competencies with Success Plans
Administering Content Learning Content Saba Learning supports the launching and tracking of SCORM and AICC content, as well as the successful playback of numerous other file formats. This session will focus on administering formal and informal learning content that you acquire from vendors or from within your own organization.
Topics include:
  • Loading content
  • Associating content with courses and offerings
  • Best practices for administering content
Create, Deploy, and Track Saba Centra Evaluations Saba Centra Evaluations Saba Centra Evaluations have been enhanced in Saba Centra 7.6 SP1. Learn new features for scoring evaluations, weighting questions, adding images, and so on. Go beyond just gathering live classroom participant responses and learn how evaluations are tracked in Saba LMS and Saba Centra playbacks.

Certification Workshop Learning Certifications Despite the rise of “informal learning,” compliance training and certification programs are increasingly essential parts of our learning organizations. This session uses a case-study approach to look at different scenarios for defining and deploying certifications.

Blended Learning Options Learning Courses, Curricula, and Certifications The Saba platform has significantly enhanced capabilities to facilitate blended learning initiatives. This session focuses on the use of multiple delivery options across many offerings or within one course/offering.

  • What is blended learning?
  • Using curricula and certifications for deploying blended learning
  • Using courses to deploy blended learning
  • New functionality in Saba 5.4 SP4
Creating Robust Training Using Saba Publisher 9.0 Publisher Publisher This session is intended for anyone who is evaluating or currently using Saba Publisher to create interactive, self-paced content. Topics will include discussion and demonstration of features and capabilities in Saba Publisher supporting engaging content creation:
  • Working with questions and tests
  • Using external HTML objects
  • Publishing options (including mobile devices)
Advanced Topics in Saba Publisher Publisher Publisher This session is intended to provide anyone comfortable with authoring basic content in Saba Publisher with a hands-on understanding of advanced features. Topics include:
  • Working with variables
  • Synergy of variables, actions and conditions together
  • Incorporating content from Captivate and other tools
  • Creating simulation
